Why I Like the Realtree Camo Sofa (It’s Inflatable!)

Inflatable Realtree Camo Sofa and Pull-Out Bed

If you like camouflage, you may have found your dream sofa. It also transforms into a pull-out bed. Take it camping or just use it home. Set it up in the backyard when you need extra seating for guests, and then turn it into a bed when they are ready to sleep.

When you are not using it, just deflate it and stick it under a bed or in a closet out of the way. However, once you do inflate it, you may want to sit on it all the time. I mean, who wouldn’t?

It’s a great lounger, recliner or couch that you can enjoy when watching movies, playing video games, reading books or taking naps on the patio. If you’ve ever wanted a camo chair or Realtree sofa but didn’t want to pay upwards of $1,000, here’s your chance.

Matching Realtree Camo Sofa Bed and Mattress, Inflatable

So, maybe you like the Realtree camo sofa so much that you’d like a mattress to match? That was my first thought! Whether you use these inflatables for camping trips or overnight guests at home, you can get a lot of use out of them.

The mattress is extra tall at 16.5″ inches in height. Some people call this a double-high inflatable air bed. It’s a vey comfortable height, in my opinion.

The top features a no-slip flocked top that is also waterproof. The standard queen size is designed so that you can use your regular queen size bed sheets without having to buy a new set.

I have an Intex air mattress with this exact seam structure. I found it very comfortable because one end is slightly raised like a pillow. For most people, it’s probably not high enough to be used instead of a pillow (unless you typically used flatter pillows). That said, I have slept on it plenty of nights without a pillow and found it to be perfectly comfortable.

Bonus! The mattress comes with a built-in pump. It’s attached discreetly right on the end of the mattress. With a simple push of a button, the mattress starts inflating.

DIY Daybed + Mattress for $130?

Yes, you can make a cheap daybed with a comfy air mattress for under $130.

Not only is it inexpensive – but it is easy to make, movable and versatile (since it can be used as both a bed and a sofa). The added bonuses are that it looks super cool and it has 4 storage compartments too. Check it out:

They use a regular mattress in the photo. However, you can swap it out for an air mattress and essentially achieve the same thing – at a much lower price. (I also think that the platform could also make a nice big movable coffee table when not in use as a daybed. Talk about getting a lot of use out of a single piece of furniture!).

This is also a great alternative to an inflatable sofa bed if you want a piece of furniture with more structure and a firmer seating area. Inflatable couches tend to be a little softer because they don’t really have a “frame”.

Anyway, Lowe’s has a video explaining exactly how to make this DIY daybed below. It’s actually simpler than you may think – it’s made from 2 hollow core doors with wood board dividers in between. Basically, all this project involves is cutting, drilling, gluing and painting.

The Daybed Air Mattress

Intex Inflatable Air MattressThere are plenty of inexpensive air mattresses you can buy for this project.

I am a fan of Intex products, and their Deluxe Dura-Beam air bed has a sturdier interior construction, flocked top and sides and a straight-line design. These features make it look, feel and perform more like a regular mattress.

Maybe the best part is that it costs less than $20.

You may also decide to get a double-high/raised/elevated inflatable mattress, depending on how high you want your bed. Expect to pay $30-$40 more.

There’s More?

What’s cool is that this concept works in lots more ways…

  • If you prefer a rolling, movable bed or need a frame for an air mattress (or regular mattress), this works great and will save you some money.
  • Want to sleep outside in the summertime? This elevated air mattress frame is ideal.
  • How about a window seat? No need to hire someone to build it – just roll this over and lock the wheels in place.

And don’t forget the bonus storage area!

For example, you can take advantage of this portable air bed at home. It can sleep 2 overnight guests, or you can fold it into a sofa for backyard entertaining.

4 Different Ways to Use an Air Mattress in Your Car

Then, you can deflate the mattress (using the included air pump) and store it in a closet. In fact, it folds up compact enough to fit in an easy-to-carry bag (also included).

Note: This inflatable sofa bed comes with an electric air pump that includes both AC and DC adapters. Therefore, you can easily plug it into your car charger or a wall outlet at home. (And fill up all sorts of blow-up furniture, pool toys, etc..)

The inflatable bed has 4 different air compartments. So, you can fill all sections or only the ones you need to fit in your vehicle. In fact, this may be the best air mattress for car camping if you like having that versatility.

Portable Fan Light for Car CampingAlthough not as luxurious as sleeping on a coil spring mattress, these air beds can make sleeping in your car more comfortable. They work especially well at turning a bumpy uneven surface into one that is uniform and cushioned.

Speaking of comfort, outdoor enthusiasts might also appreciate having a fan and a light. Or an even better ideas would be a portable fan-light. In fact, his may be one of the best $20 investments you can make for car camping.

Tips for Inflating Your Blow-Up Mattress:

Similar to most inflatables, the new material may stretch when first inflated. Therefore, you may need to add a little more air after you first inflate the sofa bed.

To prevent overheating, don’t use the rechargeable pump for over 10 minutes at a time. The air bed takes less than a couple of minutes to inflate, so this should not be an issue.
